extra dot in result of choose URL (and it isn't a URL)

The standardAdditions dictionary says choose URL returns something called a
URL. It returns a string
Also, if I choose e.g. a rendezvous web server it says
"http://tangerineScream.local." which has an extra period on the end (though
it does seem to work anyway).
