Thanks, So Xcode IS the replacement for DevTools.
That's a relief, thought I might have to install 3 GBs this time. (primarily
annoying cuz of the massive slowdown running Repair Permissions)
- I was also concerned when the installer never asked for the 3rd disk
Am I better off installing Xcode before or after 10.38 update?
(I do have a dev account - just couldn't find the download link. Fortunately
Sounds like my CD is pretty current)
- had kind of a wacky install, stupidly installed in middle of the night
and think daily cron script tried to run at one point - as I was doing
updates)

Thanks, but unless there's some reason to change it I'm planning to use the
default shell (bash?) in Panther (for simplicities sake - and I really don't
have any tsch scripts worth saving) unless it won't won't work with "do
shell script".
I seem to recall that early on in OSX, you had to use a specific shell to
interact with AppleScript.
As for the ".profile" file:
I assume I still need to include the path to the extra commands provided by
Xcode (ditto etc.) so I don't have to keep specifying the path (I recall not
being able to get this file to work in Jaguar - May have to request more
info if I fail this time)
Thanks to all,
xandra
