Paul,
Thanks for the correction. First time I've tried to code the 'do
script' command; attempting to provide some simple guidance to using
the pdftotext tool, as it provides a quick solution to the problem
described by Gil.
I actually filched the 'tell Terminal' bit from a previous post on
this list, thinking it was necessary: one of the fringe benefits of
using other scripters' code for learning purposes is that you get to
repeat their same mistakes and redundancies 8-).
BTW, I wouldn't have posted the code without having tested it first
on my machine, so it does work as originally written. Also, I will
take care not to use 'BCC' to the list in the future.
Cheers,
Rick

That looks very good, but why are you doing it in the Terminal?
You're not actually using 'do script' there, you're using 'do shell
script'. If that works at all (which is great if it does), surely it
would work without the Terminal:

Please do not BCC the mailing list - make it the To or at least the
CC recipient. You make it very difficult to reply to your message to
the list, not to mention messing up filtering your message where
filters are based on the list as recipient. Thanks.
