Promising? Hmm... I can't see nothing there that is not already in O'Reilly's $25 book "Mac OS X Panther for Unix geeks".

Moreover, the book covers issues like compiling source code, installing Fink packages or using Mac OS X as a server.

You can't be turned into an "OS X Guru" from scratch in one day: it requires experience, henceforth time. I'm afraid you're bound to be disappointed.
