I would suggest that if the AS community wants Pages scriptable (I
certainly do), than it's up to us to ask for it. We can file a feature

I, for one, have followed Mark's suggestion.
The bug I've registered is titled: "Feature request -- please make
iWork's Pages AppleScriptable".

Are you surprised?
Actually, yes, I am surprised.
I was at MacWorld on Tuesday, Jan 11.
An Apple employee demo'd Pages for me.
I asked rather casually, "Is it AppleScriptable?" -- just checking.
He assured me it was.
I didn't check for myself at that time, nor did I record his name or
exact words.
There were lots of other people eager to see the same demo.
I had simply presumed too much, and the casual assurance fit my
expectation exactly.
On Jan 21, 2005, at 4:07 PM, Paul Berkowitz asked, perhaps rhetorically:
I'm not sure if I'd really call that AppleScriptable, would you?
(Paul was referring to Keynote's AppleScript dictionary.)
Apple has encouraged ADC developers to make their new apps at least
minimally scriptable.
Keynote 2 certainly is "minimally scriptable." Definitely.
Pages isn't.
And I gather that if one wants better control of Keynote through
AppleScript, one should -- um -- file a specific feature request, as
above.
All best,
Don
