is there a 'do shell script' or applescript out there that determine if the user has admin privs?
basically, can the user update/install new applications..if not..then display dialog 'go get an admin'

I have another installer written for the PC [with NSIS] that I am almost finished duplicating for the mac side with applescript :)
Both write an xml file to the user's preferences folder that my Quicktime wired movie can read
the xml file contains stuff like memory, cpu, platform, admin, mac address and etc....
this get sent to a remote mysql database to identify the user with each movie request

if anyone wants to take a look .....is written for a spanish TV station/record label : Univision
http://www.siren.cc/Univision/fonovisa/Library/nsis/Fonovisa.dmg

I am almost ready to start testing it :)
