No. If you want security leaks, try Windows.

Publish them and let people download them. If you have a good reason to force
people to upgrade, you could use the scheme you mentioned to make the app
display a dialog informing the user he needs to download a new version. You
can provide a button with a simple GetURL event to initiate the download.
Much more than that would be impolite and insecure and should therefore not
be possible.
