What were the number of people using AppleScript in Photoshop 5 the day
before Photoscripter was released?
zero
Now CS suite is scriptable. You can't predict applescript use, because you
can't predict the user base.
I know I'm going to get a copy of the InDesign -> PowerPoint app, because I
can now use a much better design tool for slides, and it's because of
AppleScript.
As Rich Siegel of Bare Bones, or Martin Bestmann of Netopia how they
"predict" AppleScript usage. They really don't, but they know that if it's
in there, it's another reason to use their product, and it helps them see
new ways to use their products.

The problem with GUI scripting is that you have to factor in UI delays, that
you don't have to with AppleScript. As well, there's a lot of things that
can interfere with UI scripting that non-UI scripting doesn't care about.
It's a supplement for a dictionary, not a replacement.
