You can refer to a Terminal window by its title as well as by its name. That's just a bad dictionary. Ever seen that before? One window property is "name" which is described as the "title" of the window. But it's the "custom title" that one can set and be listened to when identifying a window by "reference". (And if that doesn't invoke dyslexia I'm going back to 7.3 which is running on my Mac IIFX.)
But you can't set window preferences globally. You have to change them for each new window with a few lines of script.
I'm betting there is a plist somewhere that would allow settings to apply to new windows.
