Title: Internet Connect, AirPort, and
Tiger
It seems that my iBook G3 running Tiger periodically forgets the
AirPort network it is attached to (and also every time the machine
goes to sleep), even though the AEBS is 5 feet away and the signal is
always 4 bars when its on. In Internet Connect the Network popup menu
says "No Network selected". "Power" remains
"On". I want to be able to run an AppleScript to reconnect.
(It's easy to select my network from the popup - the connection is
immediately restored - but I want to automate it nonetheless.)
I have pored over the AS dictionary for Internet Connect and
tried all kinds of things like:
tell application "Internet Connect" to connect AirPort
configuration "AirPort" as user "my name" with
password "my password"
This does not do anything. If I try to set the name of the
configuration to the name of my network I get an
NSInternalScriptError. (The name always seems to be "missing
value" in any case, whether connected or not.)
I have googled for a solution and not got anywhere. Does anyone
have a working script? Would GUI scripting be the way to go? If I
manually select the item from the Network menu, it reconnects right
away, as I said.
Thanks for any clues or pointers,
Don
