If you want to run OS X in a supported configuration you need to buy a Mac.  I anticipate hacks to get OS X on vanilla PCs to follow shortly on the heels of the first Macintel. 

I'm curious about the 64-bit question as well.  Maybe the Macs that actually hit the market next year will have (gasp) Itanium chips?

I don't believe anyone's saying anything about running Mac OS X on a non
Apple-based Mac computer. In fact I would expect Apple to prevent this from
being done.

If you want to run Mac OS X then you need to buy a Mac - regardless of the
CPU on the motherboard.
