Apple saw the IBM roadmap 10 years ago and pronounced that PowerPC was the
way to go. I don't think anyone can predict more than a few years out with
any certainty.

Given that it is hard to predict, having options is a good thing.

Not too sure about this in the short term. I expect that some folks will
hold off on purchases which should hurt their sales and stock price.
