Courtney is right.

Other point of view: Mac OS X.

Mac OS X 10 (or 10.1 if you prefer, I mean the first version) is a Child of NeXt.

So are them 'till Tiger.

On the other hand, it is possible to consider Mac OS X for Intel Macintosh Platform is a complete re-write ?
[I think so]

Now, I gave you food for your discussion...

Other point of view:

Now I understand why there are so many 'bugs' in Tiger (even 10.4.1)... they spend their time to make an Intel version...

Apple forget the lessons they learn some years ago (in the beginning of the 90s)! There is two possible ways to follow to speed-up the user experience:

a. Speed-up the hardware (most obvious way is to use speedier CPUs),

b. Speed-up the software, in that case, the OS.

Some old Apple Computer (> 15 years Apple employees) users understand what I wrote above...

Obviously, the current trend is to ask Computer with faster CPUs and to say nothing about slow Operating System (OS) and slow Application...

A bicycle cannot run faster in an Highway than in a good road, a car can, thus a better can faster.
