I've seen this issue mentioned nearly everywhere but I don't

they still get a hardware sale out of it.
"Ruin" is, of course, a value judgement. =) Most people interested
in running Windows on a Mac (natively, mind you, not in Virtual PC)
are dual-booting, which is an unusual but not completely insane
tactic if for some reason you need to use both OSes, but are
unwilling to buy two boxes to do it. (Space, expense, data
sharing...) Virtual PC is, in most cases, a superior solution, but
there you are.
Pragmatic as I am, here's my feelings:
Since this is a development list here (and AppleScript is not XPlatform,
but...), using Virtual PC (a software emulator) to make tests of applications is
really absurd.
Also, a real testing can only be done on real machines.
At last, to get happy customers, you'd better do real testings (and eventually
using a software emulator because there are people who will use it - see below)
and so have more than one computer on each of the target platform unless you
want to get plenty bug reports (people usually are not like me pesting on my
side and do not report the obvious bugs like the "set bounds of front window to
{0,44}" that do not works [is not persistant (*)])
Dual-booting:
If I have to do that because I do not have that application running on my OS,
... i will do it only because It takes less time to do the job with that
application, not because i love the OS, Application, whatever.
Pragmatic... I use a computer because it let me do things faster, better, a good
looking design, etc.
The use of the word 'like' (see below: "...they like Appleās hardware..."): I
ain't no use of this word in business. I use a tool to do my job; I do not
really care of what is the tool; I care to being able to do a good job with that
tool. Everything else came (derive) from (a) sentiment to an object and is just
foolish to my eyes. OK, if you use the word prefer in the sense 'I tend to
choose', its OK with me. I make a distinction between things (objects), animals
and human beings.
However, there really are people who want to run Windows full-time on
a Mac just because they like Apple's hardware design better than any
of the PC manufacturers'. (I know one personally, in fact.) I think
they're sort of nuts, but hey, it still counts as a hardware sale.
People are free to do what they want unless it hurts other people which is not
the case here.
They even can put a software timer that drive a hardware timer than runs a
coffee machine and a clock and ring the bells eavery hour to gives them a cup of
tea ... er. coffe, yeah, a cup of coffee ;)

* Thank you for the [US-English only / not French] Dictionary application. My
English "is getting better all the time" with it (and since it is a dictionary,
I have a better idea of what word meaning is); thanks also for the thesaurus.
"What a shame" that this does exists only for English (in fact, and talking for
me only I would be happy to get one in French/with French everywhere, not only
for telling me that "idiot came via Old French from Latin .../... from Greek
.../..."
At last, this is the best addition from Tiger. What were the other 199 additions
to Tiger from Panther ?
