Energy Savings.
I find it a little strange that screens, which do not need saving**, can be 'saved' at any time by going to a hot corner, while Energy, which always needs to be saved, can only be saved after a predetermined time has lapsed.
Given the sophistication of the Power Manager, why isn't there a Save Energy Now corner to turn off LCD backlighting?

It these post-monochrome monitor days, there really is little to no need to protect our screens (unless, perhaps, you have a plasma display on your Mac) from burn-in -- permanently marking the CRT phosphors with something which has been on the screen for too long. Screen savers are mere novelties -- amusing time and cpu wasters, excepting those which also provide password protection to regain access to the machine, thereby providing a security feature. And those could as easily provide that password protection without dimming the screen.
