Jonathan

Can you explain your need to actually open the mbox in the Finder?

Packages are constructed to behave like aliases to the executable file (or
data file) that is buried inside.

Apple appear to have made an effort to avoid end users accidentally
navigating their way inside packages - which is probably why there is no
script that will open a package *unless* you can target a folder that you
know is inside.
