There certainly *are* file extensions in that OS. (Okay, I'm guessing
you meant that they're irrelevant to the OS itself; but certainly it's
easy to conjure up a scenario in which one would want to script the
removal of, say, ".html" or ".jpg" from a series of filenames.)
