Script as internet helper protocol in tiger

Has anyone successfully defined an AS applet as an internet helper protocol in Tiger?

I've changed the creator code and the CFBundleSignature to my own 4 character code and used MoreInternet to set a custom protocol to the script. I know this used to work in 10.3.9. Our company has workflows built around it.

I'm not sure if Apple have deliberately crippled the '«event GURLGURL»' as a security fix. Safari gives the error "Safari can’t open “zen:myprotocol” because Mac OS X doesn’t recognize Internet addresses starting with “zen:”.

As a side note, is there any way I can write an app in Xcode (possibly using Cocoa) to act as a helper protocol? I don't think you could do this before Tiger.

Any help really appreciated. We can't upgrade our company to Tiger (150 macs) until I can get this working.
