Yeah, maybe that seems a little true...at first. Since I moved from 9 to X
recently, I've been in that "stop-gap" mode of just filling needs and then
comparing as I go along.
I found TextWrangler to be insanely powerful in addition to being insanely
free. At first, I had the same thought as you "Wow, why do I need BB now?".
Here's one reason: HTML work without BB is a bit of a chore, frankly, and
I'd forgotten what going without some of those tools would mean (my PHP
glossary, for example.)
So, I did register TextWrangler which got me an upgrade path to BB for a
little less than retail.
One other editor mention: PageSpinner.
I did upgrade Optima's PageSpinner to X (it's highly scriptable as well, and
I like many of the HTML reference features.) It's a text editor and a
styled text editor, and has some very useful and customizable menu
attachment features. New license: $30; upgrade: $20.
Re-writing scripts for a new BB will be practically the same as writing them
for another app, so I'll still give it a month or so to see how it all pans
out with what I have installed now: Alpha, TextWrangler, PageSpinner.
But the free TW may have sold me on staying with BB, so there's that.
