Hey Chris,
I think, that the information of the images get lost while
producing the PS...
First of all, did I get You right, that the postscripts are
produced by You? So that means, You know the image-names before
creating the Postscript?
If so, You could try opening either the PS or the PDF within
textedit or BB-Edit (depending on the File Size, textedit could
take very long to open...) and do a text search for one of the
image-names. if either in Postscript or in PDF You could find a
name, I would be proven wrong, but I would think, names go off
while printing in PS...
Maybe You should do it before out of the Layout-Program? Could be
small, I guess.
Just a thought...

Hey all,
We are an independent newspaper and I am trying to come up
with a way to do some in house image tracking. We save the
PostScripts of output every day and I was wondering that if I
turned them into PDF's would there be some way to find out what
either the filename of an image is or the title inside of the
image is.
For example. I downloaded and converted the PS into a PDF on
my desktop. Opened the new PDF and got image properties from an
image. It shows me the title of the image. i go to "Export All
Images" inside Acrobat 6 (on a mac) and export all the images. I
then open the image in Photoshop CS 2 and try getting the info
from them, not there. I tried importing the images directly into
PS CS2 and still, no image info is carried over.
Does anybody know of a way to get the image info (specifically
title) as a batch process? Ultimately I would a want to get it in
a text file / list format so I could script some comparison
scripts to see which images are actually used.
Any help in getting this initial info is appreciated!
Chris
