In an earlier message, I wrote this:

Hey, "do shell script" *is* vanilla AppleScript.  No OSAX required. :)

I have since decided, for some reason, that I may have been mistaken.

Michelle> Actually, it's part of an OSAX (standard additions)

Paul> Actually, since it's part of Standard Additions, not the AppleScript language, it is an osax, by definition

Gary> Um, yes it is.  It's in the Standard Additions OSAX.

Yup, just a feeling I have that I might possibly have been wrong, somehow.  It's kind of a sixth sense I have around erroneous statements.  Kinda eerie.  Too bad it didn't go off *before* I hit send . . .

Ahem.

Thank you all for pointing out the error of my ways.   And reinforcing my dislike of the insidious nature of OSAXes in the process. :)  Nevertheless, the Standard Additions OSAX, the shell, and the date command all come standard with the OS as shipped, which was my intended point.
