aha!!
I tried to set this up last week and was going crazy with that hold
down option while clicking "Add" part.. I gave up... with this new
info I might try again.. Thanks..

The original hint (at the top) is pretty much accurate, except that
you hold down the option key not while clicking 'Add' but while
clicking 'More Printers.' This distinction was made in a more
recent comment (at the bottom) of that page.

I tried for a long time the other day, using UI Browser. There's
no way to
do it that I can see. You can't get that popup to display via GUI
scripting.
