Thanks so much to everyone for all the help on this..

I would really like to check out ImageMagic and Fink (as i really know nothing about it right now) although for my needs at the moment, sips seems to be the way to go!!

It's already installed and is simple to use.. It also seems to work on vector based pdf files (which I can't see why it would not have?)
