Maill.app puzzle

When trying to get the content of a message (get content of theEmail), instead of getting the text of the message, I get "?" . I have notice in the archives that others have had this problem, but no solution was presented.

I would greatly appreciate some help into this puzzle. Mail 1.3.11 and OS X 1.3.9.
