Address Book: Reference frontmost/current person

A very simple question which is stumping me at the moment - how does once reference the current person (or record) in Address Book?

I'm integrating Address Book with a Postcode application for this weeks UK Mac Expo (What? Last minute. No. It doesn't start until Thursday). This is simply an integration example so what I'm planning on doing is to grab the postcode from the current record, look up the address details and drop them back into Address Book. I've got a script I wrote a while ago to set (and indeed, get) data from Address Book - I just don't know how to reference the current record.

I'll keep on wading through the dictionary and searching through Google but if anyone's got the answer to hand, it'd be much appreciated.

TIA
