Folder Actions (System Events) failure

  • Subject: Folder Actions (System Events) failure

I've written a simple AppleScript application which "immediately" backs up photographs to two different locations. As requested (demanded) by the client, it uses folder actions. Unfortunately, System Events (and hence folder actions) fail after an arbitrary number of images have been added to the folder. To patch this, I issue an occasional Systems Events call and, if it fails, I kill off Systems Events and restart it. Obviously less than ideal.

Is this a known issue with Folder Actions / System Events? Does anyone have any neater solutions to this problem?

TIA

Simon Forster
