True, but not typically the big deal you think it is.  Mac OS (9/X)
already has built-in time zone support; Mac OS X's comes from the BSD
and Unix world, with time zone files in "/usr/share/zoneinfo" for the
system to read and know about.

I was reading man pages quickly, so I guess I missed it. Which unix command uses this file? What I was looking for was a command that could take an input such as "CDT" and return the offset "-0700".
