There's a very limited set of circumstances that could cause it;
since you're seeing it for all dictionaries, the most likely one is
that a system resource is missing or damaged. (Specifically, "/
System/Library/Frameworks/OSAKit.framework/Resources/
dictionary.xsl".) Have a look in Console and see if there's an
error message about "sdef parse failed"; that (or its absence)
should provide a clue.

Yes "sdef parse failed" appears in the log. The file you mention is
there, but it is being reported as a JPEG file, which seems a bit odd
to me.
Anything I can do about it? Just replace it?
