A little background: I keep all my third-party scripting additions in
my user scripting additions folder. A 'Disable User Scripting

I run a 'Switch User Scripting Additions' script - to enable/disable
scripting additions as required. (It just makes osax management less
troublesome. It also helps to reduce the risk of inadvertently
producing a *supposedly* vanilla script - that actually relies on
third-party functions.)
Good thinking. I used to use a similiar arrangement to handle the
several
third-party OSAXen on my OS 8.6 machine. The effect on non-vanilla
commands was immediate, but a restart was necessary to disable "Jon's
Coercions". (That no longer seems to be the case, but it is
necessary to
quit Script Editor and relaunch it if it's open when "Jon's" is
moved.)
Good point, Nigel. The terms from Jon's Commands are purged when the
file is removed from the Scripting Additions folder - but, as you
say, the coercions are persistent until Script Editor is quit and
relaunched. This bit me a couple of times, a while back (so the
script referred to above includes a reminder). Still, I suppose some
of the best lessons are the more painful ones... ;-)
