For a simple test, rename a file with a high-ascii character in it (û will do it)

Sorry, I didn't write that, I wrote a e-caron (unicode 283).

, then run "(list folder f) as Unicode text" on the parent folder: OMM the list is truncated just before the high-ascii name.

When I run the following

set f to choose folder
(list folder f) as Unicode text

and the folder contains a file with a high ASCII character in the name, the list doesn't get truncated. I tried with ü and ß and in both cases the entire contents of the folder, including the high ASCII character were there.

Your test works OMM as well. Please do try with "higher ascii" (I mean, unicodes beyond 255). ü and ß are under 255.
