According to my tests, not really. The iMac Duo is faster than the iMac G5
Is Script
Editor on Intel Macs "native"?

Script Editor is Universal.

Does it save apps as PPC-only?

This surprised me initially, but as you pointed out, it should be expected. It saves apps as PPC.
And on my tests, the icon gets lost on a PPC Mac, but it runs without a glitch.
It was a simple script.
