Good morning everyone,
I'm not sure if this is the right list for this question, but here
goes. Does anyone know if it's possible to use a pre-existing
username and password to authenticate an AppleScript that requires
admin authentication? My thinking is that if I create a second admin
account on my local machine, and embed the username and password
pieces of information within the script, I can get the script to self
authenticate on the machine. I'm not sure if this would be best
handled by putting an AppleScript in front of the existing
AppleScript, or by using a combination of shell scripting and
Automator. Is it possible to have self authenticating scripts on a
local machine? Has anyone ever been able to do it?
So, just so it's clear about what I'm trying to do, here it is.
I have a second admin username and password on the local machine.
The non admin user launches an application that has the two variables
of the second admin username and password stored in it. The app
launches the AppleScript and takes the two variables and copies them
to Name and Password fields in the dialogue box and then presses the
"OK" (radio?) button so that the script is now authenticated and may
run. Is this possible? Does anyone have any advice or pointers on
where I could look to find information on this?
Thank you in advance,
Paul
