Has anyone been successful in scripting Photoshop CS2 to open a psd/

the flattened version of that huge file.
Open them up and flatten them then - or, better still, write a script
that rejects layered files outright.
That hack doesn't work consistently outside of PSB - you'll end up
with big white images with black text stating: "This layered
Photoshop file was not saved with a composite image".
Hose a proof or a print run using undocumented features like that and
you'll come badly unstuck.
