Well, it baffles me to, but that's still what I have to do! ;-)
The goal is to really only save the adjustment layers from this particular
derivative of the file (there is the original, untouched camera capture, the
layered file described here, a full-resolution flattened file, and another
version for the web). I didn't decide the workflow and I have some issues
with it, but nevertheless, this is what they want.
My best idea so far is to simply scale down to a best guess, save, then use
the Finder to check what image size I got. Then iteratively keep scaling
down until I am within a 1 Mb tolerance of 20 Mb. (The files will always
start as much larger than 20 Mb, so scaling up is not a concern.)
Any better ideas?
