Not really, although it looks like you could use it that way. The canonically correct tool is FixupResourceForks(1). Go read the man page for details.
I had a look at that too. I'll give it a whirl. The other thing I wondered about was perhaps using ResEdit in Classic. I don't have that Mac in front of me again until Friday when my friend comes back, so will try a number of things when that happens.
Rezilla will do this. The new 1.1 version has just been released: among
other things, it has the possibility of exporting / importing entire
resource forks to/from XML format: so in your case, IIUC, you could
export the separate resource fork to XML and re-import it into the main
data file (after creating an empty resource fork for it). If you have
many files to fix like this, you can do it with an AppleScript script.
BTW I take this opportunity to announce Rezilla 1.1. It is a major
upgrade which introduces support for external plugins, an icns editor,
resource pickers, and many new features (and bug fixes).
