Apple needs to specify the ordering that it WILL use FOREVER while placing 16 bit bytes into a 32 bit word on Intel based machines.

There is the UNIX (Sun) way and the peecee (Microsoft) way. Which will it be?

And by the way, before we go too far the same problem will soon appear for 32 bit bytes into a 64 bit word.

Just "little endian" and "big endian" is not well defined.
