I have this script (Application) that is called by Cron every

So far if I run the script from smile it works fine. But not from
Cron.
Is there something here that's not allowed?
Perhaps you saved it as a script, not as an application. I haven't
used Cron, but this may make a difference. When you double-click a
script, it opens for editing, but an application launches.
No, this isn't the issue. Running a script from cmd line can be
accomplished with osascript, then it runs as if you ran it in the
Editor.
