OK, deleted those scripting additions and logged out/in.

Entry in terminal now works with no error.

However, when trying to save as a shell file I still get no ouput.

So I even tried something as simple as:

#!/bin/bash
osascript -e '"HI THERE"'

Saved as testme, chmod 755 testme
Try ./testme

Result: no output. So obviously I'm missing something basic.
