This is, of course, quite outrageous. I realise that we poor
cousins have long since traded our collective wastebaskets for
trash, and (computationally speaking, at least) our traditional
spellings for the reformed versions introduced by Noah Webster.
Could this date behaviour be a further step in the insidious (yet
apparently relentless) process of trying to sneak a few more stars
onto the Union flag?* And why, if I make an incidental contribution
to a discussion, does it have to be 2¢? And am I the only one
around here who subscribes to the conspiracy theory? ...

Hello kai
It may be time to do with Apple UK what I do with Apple France ;-(
When I discover this kind of oddity, I send them a mail asking for a
correction.
At this time there are some pending anomalies, for instance:
-- localisations problems in iTunes
-- UNICODE characters names in the Palette are the english ones, not
the French ones
-- in Pages, the enhanced quotation marks are the curly ones while
the French ones are
"POINTING DOUBLE ANGLE QUOTATION MARK" and there is no provision to
change them
In the past I got some results so I am optimistic (but I must also be
patient).
