How to convert my text to PC encoding when using "write"

Hi,

I wrote a script that takes the text content out of an indesign file and dumps
it into a text file using write. The problem that I am encountering however is
that when you click the text file on a PC it opens up in windows encoding
(automatically - at first it asked but now it always opens in windows
encoding) and all accented characters come out wrong. My question is: is there
a method of writing to a file using PC encoding or another method so I don't
have to do any manual steps after the text file has been written and access
closed?

The main purpose of making the text files in the first place is for grammar
and spell checking purposes by a translator who uses a PC only.

Best, Patrik
