Gary,
I appreciate your comments and I do understand where you are coming from.
However, although I have not used AS in a little while for something of this
nature, I am not unfamiliar with what's involved with scripting and
programming for graphic images. I am "hung up" on opening the image for a
good reason. I will be batch processing 40 - 50 images at a time that are
typically 300 - 500 MB each. If each image needs to load into memory first,
I don't care which environment the access comes from--it's a lot slower than
just reading the header. I also understand the difference between "opening
the image" and "open for access".
The reason I ask before trying all of the options is because I'm hoping
someone has experience with it and already knows the answer. It can save me
a lot of time testing and since this is not my primary job responsibility, I
don't have a lot of extra time for testing.
Once again, I appreciate the comments and suggestions.
