AVOID all knowledge about XML. You don't need it. It adds confusion. When you open a .plist file with Property List Editor AVOID any use of the Dump button. It shows you the XML and adds to the confusion.

... because you don't need it. System Events handles all those dirty details for you.


Both Smile and TextWrangler can open xml files, but what you get is what Property List Editor's Dump button shows you ... raw xml text. You don't need this. Use Property List Editor's default display.
