He just explained it! What does your "Really?" mean? That "In most cases you
don't really need to restart"? Nobody's "forcing" a restart. Emmanuel just
said that you can just quit the installer instead.
In the very rare case that some background process has loaded a scripting
addition (e.g. Satimage) that has just been replaced by the installer, you'd
need to restart. What's hard to understand about that? It's the way the OS
works. If you've loaded a scripting addition that now no longer exists,
you're going to have problems. Maybe there's some way that a later version
of Smile could discover if a background process has loaded one of its SA's,
and restart the background process after the replacement is made.
