I'm just lamenting that there is no pure Applescript way to move a file and give it a new name in one step.
Gee, here I thought we were actually helping you solve a problem, I didn't realize you were just whining about a feature so ultra-specific and rarely used that people thought you were making up restrictions. At least Michelle and I proved that yes, there is a pure appleScript way to do this, and, using a handler, in a single command without leaving anything in the trash or emptying the trash.
OTOH: Using "do shell scrip" is nothing I like to do often. Guess about
all the potential security risks if you don't check enough eforehand. But that would be another therad.
I'm not a big fan of do shell script, but there are no additional security risks using shell commands for something like this above and beyond the risks of using pure appleScript.
But this discussion is over (for me).
