At minimum, I think that's more likely to be considered to have the 'package' quality. Like an .rtfd.


Bundles can be packages, but some still look like folders (like frameworks). They are more formalized in that they have a TOC (an Info.plist) located somewhere in the sub-folder hierarchy describing its characteristics. The system facilities for determining what is a package amount to a few bit flags here and there (Finder.h, LaunchServices.h) whereas the bundle facilities have many APIs located in the CFBundle and NSBundle headers, and also in AppleScript Studio scripting.
