I'm not sure if this is an AppleScript question per se, but this
seemed as good a place to start.
My boss wants me to send her an email reminder every morning at 6:00
am. At first I used Automator to make an iCal alarm on my computer,
but the alarm only executed if my laptop was open. So we have an iMac
at work (with multiple user accounts on it), so I threw the iCal alarm
in the admin account's calendar, and never log out admin (though admin
may be backgrounded via FUS). Sadly, the alarm only runs if that
account is frontmost. So there seems to be no good answer here. The
deviously clever side of me thinks "I need an account that I know will
be open when she gets her mail.... HER account on her own computer!"
So I could set up the iCal alarm on her computer so she sends emails
to herself. This is probably the route I will go, but my question is
this: is there a way to automate sending of email from an account that
is not frontmost? As I write this I can hear how virusy it sounds, but
my intentions are pure!
Dan
