Yeesh. Where did all the hostility come from? What a tone to ring in
2007 with.
Oh, right, it came from the OP, who started this thread by bitching
about the Reply-To policy using somewhat hostile language. Oy and
vey.
Mr. Schwartz is right about one thing: the topic has been beaten to
death. Both sides have made some good arguments, and it really just
comes down to community preference.
Really, it's not that hard to make your replies go where you want them
to go. If your MUA doesn't let you override the Reply-To on a
persistent basis, just hit Reply All and then delete all but the list
address from the headers. If you can, script it. If not, do it
manually. It's just not that big a dealio.
You can also, for the convenience of others, add a Reply-To: the list
address on your end; the reflector may not add one itself, but it also
won't strip one that's already there. GMail makes this far too
difficult, however, so I haven't done it on this message.
