It most certainly is. I've already loaded it with a few scripts. It's like magic. You launch scripts and stuff happens while you keep typing. :-)
>It's a lot easier to remember abbreviations than the keyboard combinations I'm currently using with QuicKeys to activate scripts.
I agree. Easier to make up your own mnemonics.
>Is there some reason why you didn't reveal the special character that needs to precede the AppleScript link and the form in which the AppleScript link needs to be?
No. If enter a new expansion and the first character you use is the following Unicode character, then it will execute what comes after as an AppleScript.
Unicode 2101
UTF8: E2 84 81
GID: 2674
In the character palette select Lucida Grande in the Glyph Catalog
In the character table 2674
This character looks like this: a/s
but it's all in a single glyph. I copied it into this mail message but it just came in as a question mark.
>Is this feature included in the v. 3.1 beta I'm currently running?
Yes, it works in your beta. It's been in betas for the last 3 or more months, but only Riccardo, myself and one other beta tester knew about it. He just revealed the feature to the public at Macworld. The most recently released beta, 3.1.1, has a menu item for inserting the glyph that triggers the AppleScript.

Just a satisfied user and beta tester who got the nod from the developer today to make the feature public on the scripting lists. And since this is the audience that would have an interest in the latest feature, here we go.

>> If any of you are TypeIt4Me users you might be interested to know that the latest version will allow you to run AppleScripts by typing a mnemonic of your choosing. I've been using a working version of this for about three + months now and it's pretty convenient.

>>
>> But the new version allows you to put in AppleScripts in the text expansion field and when preceded by a special character (to indicate to TypeIt4Me that it's an AppleScript), your script runs. For example, in my setup typing "gg" followed by a space pulls up a browser window with the Google main page. I've been using numerous other such expansions.

Now it's even more useful as many of my frequently used scripts can be triggered from any application by typing a mnemonic. No nee to touch a mouse and doesn't involve F-keys. Just leave your fingers on the home position and type the shorthand. Pretty convenient.
