I'd like to have an applescript which I can call via a url type, ex:

myscript://somefunction/?datatopass

can I create an applescript application bundle which will do this, or do I need to create a full cocoa app?

any assistance is most appreciated.

You can use Smile, which receives and can handle the smile:// urls.

In Smile, you would define your own "open location" handler.
