Opening Filemaker 8 DB

Title: Opening Filemaker 8 DB

Hi all,

I’ve been running around in circles for some time now. Searched the archives to no avail, read and re-read the Filemaker dictionnary.

The usual syntax to open a remote Filemaker DB is “getURL "fmp7://ipaddress/filename"”

The dictionnary states you can even open it up with no password prompt by using the "fmp7://username:passwd@ipaddress/filename" formula.

My problem is that neither one of these works. And not only do they not work, the editor gives me absolutely no feedback from FM. No result, no error, just darn digital complacency.

Before anyone asks the (good) question, yes, the DB is up and running. I can open it by using the “file/open remote” menu item.

Argh.

Best and looking forward to your feedback, hoping it won’t be a long list of WOMMs,

j.
